Services

FERTILITY
Over 70% of all our dairy farmers use our routine fertility visits which are carried out with the aid of portable up to date scanners. We use Interherd plus and CIS computer software to help monitor and aid herd fertility.
HERD & FLOCK HEALTH
We can provide advice and written documents to create a valuable plan tailored to your individual farm.
MASTITIS
We have a cell count monitor to help you identify problem cows or quarters and a Delvo antibiotic machine to check antibiotic residues. Bacteriology and antibiotic sensitivity can be arranged and free advice on treatment is given within days of receiving your sample. In depth mastitis problems can be fully investigated using the Dairy Co Mastitis Plan and with the aid of Interherd programs.
LAB ANALYSIS
We can give quick in house metabolic results for down cows to help treatment decisions. Faecal worm egg counts are routinely carried out at the practice and this is beneficial for identifying worm and fluke problems and providing information as to when the best time for worming should take place.
NUTRITION
We encourage close working relationships between farmers, nutritionists and ourselves to achieve optimal production for the herd. Metabolic profiles, routine ketone and energy testing allow nutrition to be assessed at cow level.
LAMENESS
We are very happy to treat individual cows and investigate and give advice on herd problems. This can be with the use of locomotor scoring and preventative measures.
BULL FERTILITY TESTING
We have recently expanded into offering bull fertility testing. This will allow bulls being sold on to have a pre-purchase fertility certificate to give a new buyer peace of mind. Checking bulls annually will reduce the risk of low fertility on the farm and optimise production.
CAMELIDS & CAPRINE
We have an ever increasing number joining our practice and we are very happy to provide meetings, advice, emergency aid and preventative measures.
RAM FERTILITY TESTING
We have been offering this service for years. It allows on farm or at the surgery examination of rams to make sure fertility is high before the tupping season. This service is highly recommended so lambing time does not drag on due to subfertile rams being used.
SURGICAL THEATRE
At the surgery we have 24 hour nurse cover to provide assistance for emergency and routine sterile operations. Sheep, goat, alpaca caesarians, abdominal hernias and exploratory laparotomies in any small ruminant can be carried out.
DEDICATED FARM RECEPTION TEAM
We are fortunate to have a very experienced farm reception team who can answer a lot of queries and direct you to the right person. Alison and Emma are both qualified nurses and have worked at Coombefield Veterinary Hospital for over fifteen years.
FREE ADVICE AT THE SURGERY AND OVER THE PHONE
We will always give free impartial advice and recommendations whenever required.
